Transient Dreams

Before anything else, I’d like to say that I love my life and I wouldn’t trade one bit of it for anything I had in the past.

Jim asked me if I felt any older after my birthday. I told him I didn’t but I thought about it again…

I suppose I do feel older somehow. Mostly because I’ve learned more about life and how things work but also because I’ve accepted the fact that even if I’d known these things before, I probably would have made the same mistakes — which isn’t so bad because I look at who I am now and I know I’ve become a really good person.

There was a time when I felt like I wasn’t doing anything good with my life; like I had no direction whatsoever. I felt like I was just taking up space. But my attitude towards life has changed a lot since then. Young people always think they’re invincible — like they’re going to live forever — but over the years, I’ve become increasingly aware of human mortality. I like to think that I’m living the life I want, doing what I want to do, and making sure I’m doing everything necessary to accomplish my goals. But I also know that doesn’t really make me better than other people, it’s just that I try harder.

My 21st birthday isn’t until Tuesday (May 6th) but I already know it’s going to be the best birthday ever! 1. Because Jim is a part of my life now — he makes me so happy. I really couldn’t ask for anything more… 2. Because he gave me the best birthday gift I’ve ever received!

— a bottle of red wine
— a box of Ferrero Rocher chocolates
— a heart-shaped chocolate cake
— a hot pink male teddy bear named Bernie
— and the sweetest birthday card…

I have the most wonderful boyfriend in the world!

I don’t have a lot of good birthday memories because mine is right in the middle of summer here so not many people are around. Most of them are traveling with their families — making the most of the break. It’s usually just me, my family and my closest friends. This year, since my birthday falls on a weekday, we’re just going to have dinner at home on Tuesday. Then my friends will be coming over on the 10th to have pizza — so we can catch up on each other’s lives too.¹

Oh, I forgot to blog about this:
I am now officially on LOA! I submitted my form over a week ago. I sent a tweet to my Twitter account right after I handed in my form to the Assistant Registrar.

Thank you for the comments you left on my last entry. I caught a cold a few days ago and I’ve been having coughing fits but today I woke up feeling much better. I have a lot of catching up to do! I will return comments as soon as I can! Have a great weekend everyone!
