I’ll just edit this this post if I have random news / updates.
I probably won’t be able to update much for a few weeks… I’m having Lasik eye surgery on the 27th (next Friday). For more info on the procedure, you can read this article on Wikipedia.
I’m scared.
*sigh…
But if all goes well, I won’t have to wear eyeglasses anymore.
HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. So… My mom and I watched it on opening day. It was disappointing. I’ll just repeat what I posted on my other blogs:
I kept waiting for the film to build momentum. *sigh…
It just didn’t evoke the strong emotions I felt when I read the book (heck, I cried when Sirius fell through the veil - and when Harry felt angry, I felt angry too..haha). But I have to applaud Daniel Radcliffe..he’s become such a fine actor. (And I miss Richard Harris. He was everything I imagined Dumbledore to be.) Oh and Evanna Lynch was perfect for the role of Luna Lovegood! I loved how she delivered the lines.
HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS. I started reading the book around 9 AM yesterday and finished it in SEVEN hours. hehehe.
No spoilers okay? I don’t want to ruin it for those who haven’t read it yet.
If you reply with spoilers, please put a warning
It was great, great, great! Very, very good ending. I was afraid that the time pressure would take its toll on J.K. Rowling’s writing. But this time I wasn’t frustrated.
Snape turned out to be everything I thought he was (he’s one of my favorite characters)… And Dumbledore..I wouldn’t have expected anything less from him. *grins* And the EPILOGUE… ^_^ hihi. The only thing I’m really sad about is that ._._._._. died.
And two other characters I really, really liked.
Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post!
I really, really appreciate all of your comments. I’ll return them as soon as possible.
I probably won’t be able to blog much for the next few weeks… I’ll need to rest my eyes and let them heal after the eye surgery.
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.

EDIT: 31 July 2007, Tuesday @ 10:23 PM
The surgery was successful (I think - I’ll know for sure after three months). I’m having some problems but they’ll probably get better over time. I can’t work (draw, paint, etc.) for longer than two hours and I need to keep using eye drops but other than that, it’s fun being without glasses!
Although I do wear protective eye shields (they look like lab goggles) when I sleep and sunglasses during daytime (and nighttime too, actually). Updates on school: I got some of my midterm grades! HARTDS1 - 4.0
- I seriously did NOT expect that - we have a new prof in this class by the way..I kind of miss our old prof
| BMAT2-X - 4.0 (I think, if not, it’s probably 3.5) | FREHAND - 3.5 (yay! I really enjoy this class..even though it’s the one that you have to work REALLY hard for - my prof told me that a lot of the guys in our class were really good at drawing but I’m balanced all throughout… She even asked me to bring three of my previous plates on August 21st (I’m not sure what she’s going to use them for though). ^_^ | NATSCA1 - 3.5 (haha! I love this class! My prof’s so cool.) | DESPRIN - my prof didn’t give out our grades yet but I might have gotten a 3.5 or even a 4.0 (she gave me a 100% on my midterm plate) | COLREND - The lowest grade I ever got here is 92% and I got a 99% on my midterm written exam so I probably got a 3.5 | hehe. I just have to “keep up the good work” (as my DESPRIN prof said) so I can maintain my grades until the finals.
I really should get around to scanning my work / taking pictures of them. I’m especially proud of the self-portrait I did for FREHAND.

Wow, I wish I was brave enough to have eye surgery! Hope it all goes well - which I’m sure it will!
The funny thing is that I actually liked Order of the Phoenix a lot more than the last movie. The last one to me was a huge disappointment. lol
WOW! Good luck with Lasik!! I’m scared to even do that! Oh well, I don’t really mind having contacts. LOL.
Glad you had fun watching the Harry Potter movie!
Good luck! I thought about having Lasik surgery before… but I don’t know, I would be a little scared about the procedure.
I think Lasik is scary. If something goes wrong there goes your eyesight. My brother was thinking of getting it but I don’t know if he will now. Good luck with the surgery!
Sorry I haven’t visited in awhile… not sure where I’ve been hiding!
Gah, I’m too afraid to have anything near my eyes! I hope the surgery goes well for you - it would be great not having to wear glasses or contact lenses!
I’m not sure if I’m going to watch the latest Harry Potter film - maybe in a few weeks or so.
It’s strange, I didn’t think I was that bothered about the book either - but I really really want to buy a copy! Am waiting to get one from work (so I can get it cheap with discount!) - but they keep on selling out!
P.S. Hope you don’t mind me linking you, and ‘following’ you on Twitter!
Sorry for another comment but I just noticed the second quote on your post (Ambrose Redmoon). It’s Mike’s favourite quote
I wish i could do this surgery too. I don’t mind wearing contacts, but i love to have long nail and it’s hard to take the contacts out having long nails. But usually doctors don’t recoment this surgery if you haven’t had a baby yet and plan to have one
no comment about harry potter hehehe ^_^;;
dropping by :D ^^
I actually liked the movie. It’s my favorite potter film so far. ^^, the book is great, though I think the epilogue could’ve been better. and about that veil… hindi inexplain ni JK noh?
I hope the surgery went well! I’d be worried about it too. Not having to wear glasses again would be awesome though!
I was disappointed with the final Harry Potter book. I wanted more of my questions answered and the first part of the book just dragged on for me. I was quite satisfied with Snape’s story though, but I wish the conclusion was a little different. I wanted something grander.
My eyes keep getting worse and worse =S so I can’t even get the eye surgery until my eyes stop ‘growing’ or worsening or whatever you want to call it. However, from a picture I seen, it looks like it’s from a horror film… but I suppose if it means no glasses or contacts for the rest of your life (well, until you get old and probably need reading glasses) then I guess I could get over the horrific details of the procedure. Good luck! I’m happy for ya.
Wow, that is very fast!! It took me about four days to finish reading it, haha. I enjoyed the ending myself but was very sad about who she killed off. It was my second favourite though in the series. I still love the Order of the Phoenix the best. I was shocked to find out about Snape and Dumbledore.
Glad it was succesful! & well done with your grades!!
Glad to hear the surgery went fine
Hoping you don’t get any problems between now and 3 months!
Oh, and selfishly hoping your eyes heal fast enough for you to start blogging again
okay I don’t have much time so I’ll rush in….
I’m glad the whole eye thing went okay. I would have been hell of scared.
Ya the movie sucked…adn the others will probabaly suck too saddly,
THE BOOK WAS GREAT……=]
Good luck with the eyes, glad the surgery went well/
It seems so long ago that I finished the book. Favourite in the series by far!
Hey! Love your site!! Would you like to exchange links?
Lol, I just finished read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, too! It took 3 me days though. There were parts in that book I had trouble getting through.
Glad that everything went well with your eye surgery.
And congrats on those awesome grades!
I hope you’re fine now
I haven’t read that book yet. I stopped reading when I finished the fourth one. But now, I’m planning to read the remaining books. And because I haven’t read the fifth book yet, I don’t want to hit the theaters because I’ll be seeing a lot of spoilers! haha!
God, I envy you for not wearing glasses now. I have glasses but I wish I could opt for contact lenses as an alternative. I haven’t visited my opthalmologist for a long time now but he said that I have to wait until my eyes’ “grade” (i don’t know how to translate that well in english but in filipino, it’s grado) to reach a certain level then we could perform that operation on my eyes to halt it’s deterioration. Anyway, I envy you also for being able to read Book 7 of Harry Potter. Me? I have to be attentive to my “boyfriend” since I entered Law School. His name? It’s not exactly a name, more of an acronym. SCRA, which stands for Supreme Court Reports Annotated. Yes, that’s the name of my “boyfriend”.
So how’s your school? I hope you aren’t dying as I am in law school. Hope your eyes get well and I hope you continue to excel in your studies. Gambatte!
I thought that both the book and the film were good. The book better since nine times out of ten, books are better than the movies.
Ooh, glad the lasik went well! My mother wants me to do it when I’m a bit older. I’ll miss wearing my glasses though, haha.
I miss Richard Harris too. He’s the PERFECT Dumbledore. Such a pity. ):
I haven’t read Book 7 yet, lol. Haven’t even got it, in fact. xD
Glad to see your surgery went well. It sounds scary to me.
Hey there…well I’m glad that your surgery was successful! Great to hear :] I wish I would be brave enough to do it; I hate my contacts. Hmm, I’m not much for Harry Potter. But I saw the middle-end of the movie and was just not impressed. I’ve lost all interest since the third book. Anyways, take care!
I used to read Harry Potter & the Deathly Hollows whenever I have free time and I want to unwind in our office. But when I offered my boss, who is a Christian to borrow my book, he refused. He said that he didn’t like Harry Potter and what he promotes - witchcraft. That Harry uses magic for his ‘personal’ reasons. Like using magic against his aunt and cuz. Even though his family is cruel to him, he shouldn’t do that at all. That the book isn’t a good influence especially to kids.
I am a harry Potter avid reader, but upon hearing my boss’ comments, I haven’t continued reading the book
I’m so glad your surgery went well!
since you are a Christian right? can you pray for me? details in my blog.. ^^ just pray for me ^^
Hey sweetie! I came so close to having Lasix once upon a time. I went for my evaluation with the doctor and everything.. but at the last second changed my mind. I know that glasses can be a huge hassle sometimes but for the timebeing, I really love wearing them. *shrug* Call me crazy. You’ll have to let me know how things went. I may still do it one day.
I can’t wait to read Deathly Hallows, but work’s been a bitca the last few years and I’m still back on Goblet of Fire - ack!
