I just opened a new bank account and signed up for eBanking. I remember the days when you had to rely on your monthly paper bank statement to come in the mail. It always felt like forever. I like being able to keep track of money. I used to have an MS Excel file that detailed all the transactions I had for every single day of the week – down to the last cent. I like knowing where all my money goes. I usually have one or two bank accounts for daily spending and a passbook-only savings account (emergency funds). My mom also encouraged me to get certificate of deposits which is basically a time deposit. I always think about the future and like to keep some money in case something comes up. Right now I mostly use PayPal for shopping online. I have my new account linked to it and just tried transferring money to my PayPal account. I was able to check when the funds were debited from my bank account just by checking my online banking statement. Then the funds cleared within 3 business days (advertised duration on the site is 3-4 business days). I love how banking is so easy now. You don’t even have to go to the bank anymore to deposit or withdraw. :)
