When I started blogging in 2003, there were VERY few local web hosting companies. I had a really hard time looking for a good host because I didn’t have a PayPal account then and needed a company that accepted direct bank deposits. I eventually found one but it was a new company with limited experience and I had a lot of problems — downtime, unreliable customer support, etc. I started looking for a new company, mostly doing searches on Google. It took a while but I found a new host. I’ve had 3 domains since then and I’m still using their services.

If you’re new to the blogging scene, I think you’re very fortunate. There are a lot of new web hosting companies now and there are websites dedicated to providing you with information about finding a good host. If you’re looking for a web host for your blog, head on over to Web Hosting Geeks and read their review for the best blog hosting company. Even if you already have a host, their site is worth checking out because you might find a better host than the one you’re currently with.

A few months ago, I signed up at a site that paid bloggers to write about certain products and services and got paid immediately after completing my first task. Since then, I have been looking for ways to earn more money online. After a few months without new blog opportunities, I finally decided to check out payperpost. I actually signed up a while back but I never got around to registering my blog.

I finally registered Transient Dreams and didn’t have to wait long for approval. There was a bit of a problem about my archives — they said that I didn’t have a chronological archive. I suppose they might have overlooked it somehow. Maybe the page didn’t load correctly? Anyway, I sent a support ticket and got an immediate reply! I think they have a great support system which is incredibly important with any company, online or offline.

I was excited to find so many new opportunities. I sometimes get in a rut and can’t think of anything to blog about even though I really, really want to write. I think this is a great way to exercise my writing skills. I’m now looking forward to getting paid while blogging about stuff that I’m actually interested in.
