“What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?” ~H, Imagine Me and You (2005)
My left arm is still sore. Yesterday, I could barely move it… I couldn’t really do much. It’s a good thing my cousin Benette came over. We watched The Dark Knight. We usually spend the Saturday afternoons before her next chemotherapy cycle watching movies.
— I actually saw TDK with my friends (M-Rize and Jen) last month. I think it’s the best movie I’ve seen all year!
And Jim says we have to get it on Blu-ray. XD
Anyway, I’d forgotten that The Joker mentioned that line too.
“You just couldn’t let me go could you? This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object.” ~The Joker, The Dark Knight (2008)
But then…
“It never happens. If there’s a thing that can’t be stopped, it’s not possible for there to be something else which can’t be moved, and vice versa. They can’t both exist. You see, it’s a trick question is the answer.” ~Luce, Imagine Me and You (2005)
.. . . .
I’m really worried about Jazel. She lives in Houston, TX. Her mom is a nurse and they thought her group might get called in by the hospital so they didn’t evacuate.
.. . . .
I’ve sold a couple of my books already (about 15 novels and over 30 comics) — just in time too! The books I mooched have started to arrive. And I bought quite a few new ones too: Brida by Paulo Coelho arrived in the mail yesterday.
I still have to finish reading Eldest by Christopher Paolini — I never really liked Eragon, mind you. Too many similar elements with my favorite authors’ works. I am tempted to say it was a rip-off but it’s sort of like research, you know. If you copy from one author, it’s plagiarism. When you take from various sources, it’s research. But gaaah! Even the names!!!
Most people think it’s a rip-off of Star Wars but I can’t really say because I’m not too familiar with that universe (though I’m a fan – I must have watched Return of the Jedi at least 20 times as a kid). But I can definitely see the similarities with J.R.R. Tolkien‘s The Lord of the Rings and especially the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey. He even cited it as one of his favorites. Well, as anyone who’s a fan of Anne McCaffrey knows, she is very protective of the Pern universe. She watched closely as her own son, Todd McCaffrey wrote novels set in Pern… I wonder what she’d think of Eragon if she got the chance to read it.
Seriously, it still amazes me that it got published AND was adapted into a movie.
